Bethany Badeer
Bethany is one of the amazing writers on our team over here at Stand Unshaken! She is incredibly passionate and knowledgable about all things health and nutrition, and we can’t wait for you to have the chance to learn from her!
1. Tell us a bit about yourself!
Hey girl, I’m Bethany!! I’m a lover of Jesus, 23 years old, recently married to my best friend and super passionate about all things holistic health, nutrition, creativity, and adventure!
2. What do you do for work?
I am currently working at an organic juice bar where I get to interact with incredible people, educate customers on healthy eating + nutrition and make amazing nourishing meals. I also own and run a small business with my best friend on the side. It’s called Wildflower Harvest and our heart is to cultivate a culture of clean beauty by providing products that serve your body well.
3. What inspires you to create?
Inspiration to create doesn't come down to just one specific thing. For me, I’m inspired by lots of things. I’m inspired by God, by people, places, things, actions, words, and nature. I draw my creative passions from anywhere and everywhere because I try my best to see the beauty + wonder in all that God has created.
4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as an entrepreneur?
I don’t know if I would consider myself an entrepreneur but the biggest thing I have learned from having a public platform is to just be authentic and to stop comparing my creativity to others. In a world full of SOOOO many incredibly talented people, I find the enemy likes to get in my head and fill me with lies, then starts the comparison game. God has made each of us as individuals with different gifts. Instead of comparing, I’ve learned the importance of honoring + encouraging others in their creative endeavors while still being proud of my own.
5. Favorite bible verse/quote?
Psalm 23:1-4 - The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
I always find myself coming back to these verses in scripture. No matter what season of life I am in, these words always bring comfort and reassurance to my soul.
6. Favorite companies to support and shop from?
2019 is the year that I have been a lot more conscious about the things I buy, where my clothing is actually made and how it’s made. The fast fashion industry is appalling to me. I have recently been getting creative by doing a lot of thrifting. My goal is to one day have a wardrobe full of ethical clothing. A few of my favorites brands are: the tree of life and indigo luna.
7. What do you do when you are lacking motivation?
When I am lacking motivation I always try to come back to myself and do things that bring me joy in an environment that allows me to thrive and be free + creative in what I’m wanting to achieve. Sometimes this looks like going out in nature to clear my head, other times it might look like journalling my thoughts or taking a little break by doing yoga, educating myself on new ideas by reading a book or listening to a podcast and lastly it might be getting in the kitchen and creating a new recipe with beautiful ingredients.
8. If you had to move to another country for the rest of your life, which one would you pick and why?
This question is wild to me! I am Australian and my husband is American. Just under a year ago now I made the move to the States to marry Him. This journey has been so beautiful and beyond anything, I could have ever imagined for myself. I’m living out my dream life with my best friend in such a beautiful country. I never thought I would call America home but I’m so thankful for the opportunity to be living here. (I do really miss Australia though)
9. Who are some people that you admire in your industry?
There are so many amazing people in the health + wellness realm but to name a few that inspire me on the daily are:
Kate Eskuri - She is a registered nurse and is currently studying integrative medicine. She has such a beautiful, well rounded and healthy grasp on what it looks like to live a balanced + healthy lifestyle.
Hannah from wholisticallyhannah - This beauty is currently studying to be a nutritionist. She always shares incredible recipes and is super vulnerable in sharing all aspects of her health journey. I’m always inspired by her.
Emily Waterfield-Buttner - This incredible soul is a women’s hormone health coach and she absolutely rocks what she does. Everything you need to know about periods, seed cycling, cycle syncing and more, this is your girl. Everything she shares is super informative and written for anyone to understand.
10. Best piece of advice that you’ve been given?
The best piece of advice I’ve been given is simple — Focus on today. Three little words that can genuinely make a world of difference in so many different circumstances. I often find myself looking too far ahead and getting anxious about things that haven't happened and very well may not happen. Focussing on today and today only lightens the load and allows God to do the rest. I will always come back to the verse in Luke 12:25 - Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? I’m always humbled and encouraged by these words, it gives me perspective and helps me to realize that God is always in control.
